We are again announcing the popular Basic Training for SeisComP3 at gempa GmbH in Potsdam, Germany from 11 to 14 March, 2019. This beginner course is perfect for new SeisComP3 users who wish to get quickly started with a productive SeisComP3 system. Since training will be held by experienced staff from gempa - the development and service company for SeisComP3 - you can directly learn from the developers!

We are guaranteeing an intensive hands-on training - a strict limit of a maximum of 8 persons is applied.

  • Installation of the latest SeisComP3 package from scratch
  • Acquisition, archiving and distribution of real-time and archived data including FDSNWS
  • Configuration for automatic data processing
  • Interactive analysis using the Graphical User Interfaces and commandline utilities
  • Playbacks
  • Tuning and customization

Can funding be provided for attendees from Developing Countries?

Dear Daniel,

gempa is able to provide one scholarship for this training. The scholarship funds the course fee only. No travel expenses or any additional local costs are covered.

Candidates applying for a scholarship need to provide:

  • A brief CV including the level of experience in Seismology, Linux and SeisComP3
  • A short description of the project or the planned activity for which SeisComP3 will be used
  • A letter of recommendation by the advisor at the host institute or company including a confirmation that all travel expenses other than the course fee are available to the applicant.
  • A confirmation that gempa GmbH may send marketing information on trainings, events and products to the applicant.

The application must be submitted by email to: training@gempa.de no later than 28 January 2019. The decisions will be sent by 31 January 2019.
