We are again announcing the Basic Training for SeisComP3. This Beginner Course is perfect for new SeisComP3 users who wish to get quickly started with a productive SeisComP3 system.
The training covers the following topics:

Introduction to characteristics of SeisComP3.

Installation of the latest SeisComP3 release.

Generation of station information including responses.
-
Configuration of the acquisition and processing modules through the new graphical user interface.

Data management utilities.
-
Tuning of SeisComP3 for local earthquake monitoring including the phase pickers, locator, associator and magnitudes.

Practical training (focusing on real-time playbacks, off-line playbacks and hands-on tuning).

Participants may bring their own data sets and use it for tuning.
The training is highly hands-on oriented. Trainees get to learn and to practice actively at all times. Therefore, the registration to the 4 days training is open to everyone but limited to a maximum of 08 participants.

Languages
The official language of the training would be Spanish, however, during the session special remarks and support can be provided in English, German, and Italian.
Accommodation and transportation
Medellín offers a wide range of hotels at different categories and locations, we recommend you choose Hotel accommodation located at El Poblado or Laureles neighborhoods.
The city center of Medellín is easy to reach by public transportation, we recommend you use either Metro System or Uber for private taxi transportation, yellow caps services are also available.

Note: We also encourage you to search into an application called AirBnB, there are great options in places fully furniture, in great locations, at a very convenient prices.
Public transport in Medellín is usually dense and reliable. Metro and buses are within walking distance from our premise at the Hospital Station, and Ruta N station respectively.
The best way to go back and forth from/to the International Airport of Rio Negro next to Medellín City is by taxi, either using Uber App, or just simply take a Yellow Cab. Rates may vary depending on the time of the day, and the Hotel location of your selection, but normally are in the range of 65.000 to 95.000 local Colombian pesos.
Alternatively, there are some yellow cabs that provide transportation services per sit (share transportation services), the price is around 16.000 local Colombian pesos, and they pick/drop you at Metro Station “Exposiciones”.
Miscellaneous
Participants should bring their own computer with a modern Linux installed and access to internet. We recommend to choose Linux distributions with Long-Term-Support (LTS). Alternatively, we can provide Linux in a Virtual Machine for which the participant must have VirtualBox installed. The participant will receive the VM about one week before the start of the training and is responsible for the testing and functioning on the computer.
The course fee does not cover costs for accommodation, boarding and transportation. Snacks and drinks will be provided during the course. Contact us if you need help to find your hotel.
The currency exchange rate at the moment is ~3000 Colombia Pesos COP$ per every US$, it has remain pretty stable in time, but it would be wise to monitor this link from time to time, specially when the dates gets proximate.
